Spring's arrived, so we're getting back to our outdoor renovations. Emily's family came down to visit and she got a lot of help setting up a couple of garden areas. We're going to have raspberries soon!
Also, we discovered that we've got a nice, blooming dogwood, and some free-range tulips in our front yard. Thanks to an early-spring rummage sale, we've now got some dead flamingos guarding them.
And surprise, we've got chives growing all along the edge of our driveway!
It only took 2+ months, but the shed is done!
We're also finally starting to get some arts up on the walls. Our bedroom painting plans are on hold until semester break, but imagine it's sky blue instead of brown. The panorama on the left is an aerial shot of Madison; the one on the right is an illustrated owl in the shape of Illinois.
Now that we have some time and it's not pouring, we're finally getting the shed up. Getting the walls together took several hours, so we're holding the roof for tomorrow or the weekend. Between being off for Veterans Day and the good weather, we've got plenty of building time on our hands.
Meanwhile, we got a set of Danish stacking tables from eBay today, one of which is providing a light source in our tween-bookshelf column, and the others of which are giving the side couch a place to set drinks.
The lamp is from the Atomic Home -- a unique, open-top, vase-style design. We'll be looking for a cloth to drape over the table so we can hide a power strip under there, along with the existing cords.
I think we're done have things delivered and installed now -- we got our bedroom furniture and had somebody come install a new ceiling fan in the living room.
The fan was especially nice to get in there, because the light that it replaced was on the same switch with all the living room outlets. That's right, turning the room's ceiling light fixture off also turned off power to the TV, cable box, etc. Now we've got a pull-chain, thankfully. Also, I made some ostrich burgers and corn on the new grill and they turned out pretty awesomely.
